The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) has named Reno the host city for its annual conference in 2017.

"The Great State of Nevada along with the Nevada National Guard are honored to be selected in hosting the 2017 Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) conference in Reno — the Biggest Little City in the World," Nevada Adjutant General Brig. Gen. Bill Burks said.

The conference is scheduled for Aug. 13-16, 2017.

EANGUS — representing more 414,000 enlisted Airmen, Soldiers, family members and retirees from all 50 states and territories — estimated between 1,200 and 1,500 will attend the conference, EANGUS Executive Director Bryan Birch said

The conference in New Orleans in 2016 is expected to hold more than 130 vendors, Birch said. It’s not immediately known how many vendors will attend in Reno in 2017.

"As a member of the Profession of Arms and a lifetime member of EANGUS it will be a true honor to support this organization," Nevada Army Guard State Command Sgt. Maj. Jared Kopacki said. "The Nevada National Guard was Battle Born in 1864 and is Battle Ready to host this great event."

"Our enlisted personnel — Soldiers and Airman alike — will benefit greatly by volunteering to help organize and run the events," Nevada Air Guard State Command Chief Master Sgt. Michael Drisdale said. "Hosting the 2017 conference will also be an amazing opportunity for Nevada National Guard leaders to spend one-on-one time with many of the national leaders that will be here in attendance."

The association, headquartered in Alexandria, Va., maintains a full-time staff to represent the interests of enlisted members concerning legislative matters at the Pentagon and on Capitol Hill.

Burks added: "We stand ready to assist EANGUS's leadership in promoting their goals dedicated to the principles of providing for an adequate national defense and promoting the status, welfare and professionalism of the men and women of the Army and Air National Guard while hosting the 2017 conference."
