    310th Expeditionary Sustainment Command

    INDIANAPOLIS – Native of Crandon, Wis., Brig. Gen. Vincent “Boyd” Barker was promoted and assumed command of the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind., Dec. 12, 2015.

    Brig. Gen. Vincent “Boyd” Barker assumed command of the Army Reserve’s 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) from Brig. Gen. Michael Dillard, who has served as the 310th ESC Commanding General since Jan. 28, 2013.

    The ceremony took place at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at the Spec. Luke P. Frist Army Reserve Center, 9851 E 59th St., Indianapolis, 46216.

    “Being selected for brigadier general is an incredible honor, but being selected for brigadier general and command is truly momentous; something that cannot be not taken lightly. It takes respect, effort, energy and a commitment to service,” said Barker.

    Barker, a former enlisted U.S. Marine, joined the Army Reserve in 1987, and has served as Chief of Staff, 85th Army Reserve Support Command in Arlington Heights, Ill. Prior to serving as Chief of Staff, Barker served as the Assistant Chief of Staff, Operations (G3). From March 2012 to March 2014, Barker commanded the Army Sustainment Command – Army Reserve Element, Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Ill.

    Barker served as Assistant Chief of Staff, G4, 85th Support Command in 2011. Prior to being promoted to Colonel, he served as the Executive Officer, 646th Regional Support Group, United States Army Reserve, in Madison, Wis. In June 2010 he returned from a nine month deployment with HQ, 82nd Airborne Division, Bagram, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. From September 2006 to September 2009 he commanded the 757th Transportation Battalion (Railway), in Milwaukee. Other assignments since receiving his commission include: Company and Battalion Fire Support Officer, Battery Fire Direction Officer, Battalion Intelligence Officer, Battery Commander, Logistics Operations Officer, and Battalion Executive Officer.

    He mobilized in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2003 to March 2004, serving as a Reserve Affairs Liaison Officer at HQ, U.S. 3rd Army/Coalition Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC), Camp Doha, Kuwait. He later mobilized again for two years, serving at Fort McCoy, Wis., as the Senior Operations Officer, and later Chief of the Mobilizing Unit In-Processing Center.

    Barker’s awards include Barker’s awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/2 oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal w/2 oak leaf clusters, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal w/oak leaf cluster, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal w/silver oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal w/Service Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/Bronze hourglass, “M” device, and “3” device, Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon w/”3” device, the Navy-Marine Corps Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the NATO (Afghanistan) Medal.

    The 310th ESC, headquartered at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, is an Army Reserve logistical command comprised of over 8,000 Soldiers in almost 70 subordinate companies and detachments in 12 different battalions spread throughout the Eastern U.S.

    Approximately 115 Soldiers from the 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) headquarters recently returned from a one year mobilization from Fort Hood, Texas in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

    During the mobilization, the Soldiers of the 310th ESC provided mission oversight of logistical operations at Fort Hood. Additionally, subordinate units were focused on logistical support both at Fort Hood as well as Army installations across the greater Southwest. The 310th ESC also deployed a small, multi-component logistic team to advise and assist Iraqi Security Forces in support of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, Iraq.
