HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD, Ga. – The Brawlers of 4th Battalion, 3rd Aviation Regiment, 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade held a change of command ceremony on Hunter Army Airfield Jan. 7.
The Brawler battalion warmly welcomed Lt. Col. Jennifer A. Mykins as the new commanding officer and bid farewell to Lt. Col. Philip W. Mazingo.
The 3rd CAB commander, Col. Jeffrey Becker set the expectation of excellence immediately.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Task Force Brawler is the best assault helicopter battalion in the world. I believe that with absolute conviction,” Becker said. “After a nine-month deployment where they were spread across Europe as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, so do the citizens and militaries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and other nations throughout the European continent.”
Mazingo will be leaving the Falcon Brigade to continue his service in our nation’s capital. He spoke about his experience as the Brawler battalion commander.
“When I took command, I laid out a vision that consisted of lead, train, build and communicate,” Mazingo said. “Not only did each of you take it to heart, you excelled beyond all expectations.”
Mykins is no stranger to the aviation world, having served with the 82nd CAB, 82nd Airborne Division several times, most recently as the brigade operations officer.
“It is a privilege to command at any level and at any time within the Army,” Mykins said. “But commanding this battalion is truly a unique and special honor.”
