FORT BRAGG, N.C. – This week’s ‘Lightning’ Brigade Soldier Spotlight is Sgt. Odessa Williams, an automated logistics sergeant for Headquarters and Headquarters Company. Williams is being recognized for the success of the HHC in the Operational Readiness Assessment inspection. Her knowledge of the newly implemented Global Combat Support System-Army was the foundation of the success for HHC brigade. Williams, while going through an inspection herself, consistently shared her knowledge with the 519th and 319th MI BN maintenance teams to ensure their success as well.
Williams joined the Army in 2009 and has been stationed in Korea, Fort Hood, Texas, and Fort Bragg.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I enjoy reading, shopping and traveling.
Q: Why did you join the Army?
A: I was motivated from taking Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps in high school and was up for the challenge of becoming a Soldier.
Q: What are your long term goals?
A: I plan to complete my bachelor’s degree in criminology and retire after a long, successful Army career.
Q: Why did you decide to become an automated logistics specialist?
A: I heard good things about this MOS from friends that were in it before I joined the Army.
Q: What’s your favorite part about being a Soldier?
A: My favorite part about being a Soldier is being able to take care of Soldiers as a NCO.
Q: What is your favorite part about Fort Bragg?
A: As a Florida native, it’s a nice change of scenery and an adventure because I get to visit the different beaches here in N.C.
Q: What is your favorite part about the ‘Lightning’ Brigade?
A: The unit cohesion and the feeling of having people that are there for you even though you’re far from home.
About the 525th
The 525th Military Intelligence Brigade, and Expeditionary Force conducts multidiscipline intelligence operations in support of echelons corps and below, providing downward reinforcing capabilities to the Division, Brigade Combat Teams, and other formations. The Brigade and Battalion Headquarters are designed to receive, integrate, employ, and sustain intelligence enterprise capabilities in support of Corps, Division, and Joint Task Force Commanders.
