AL UDEID AIR BASE, Qatar - The director of Security Forces visits 379th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron Feb. 24 at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.
Brig. Gen. Allen Jamerson is the director of Security Forces, deputy chief of staff for logistics, engineering and force protection at Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.
Jamerson traveled around the U.S. Air Forces Central Command area of responsibility visiting defenders at the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, 386th AEW and others in Southwest Asia before coming to AUAB.
During Jamerson’s visit here, he ate lunch, visited job sites and dorms in which he talked with defenders about their needs and concerns.
He later held a director’s call, speaking to more than 100 defenders about the status of Security Forces in context, capabilities, challenges and national security.
One of the topics of discussion was transitioning to “One Security Force.”
“I’m impressed with the team work between the active duty, guard and reserve forces coming together to protect our force; we are moving towards one Air Force, and we are definitely one Security Force,” said Jamerson.
Jamerson also talked about Air Force Security Forces becoming a more expeditionary force.
“Right now we do a lot of law enforcement, weapons system security and force protection, but I think now because of the future threats we are facing, we are going to have to become even more expeditionary,” said Jamerson.
As Jamerson talked with the defenders, he addressed present challenges Security Forces face.
“The greatest challenge is having enough manpower to do all of the things our Air Force needs us to do and appropriately resource defenders with the right vehicles, equipment, weaponry and training to be ready for the vast scope of missions,” said Jamerson.
Even with the challenges Security Forces face, Jamerson is impressed with the defenders as he visited them in various parts of the AOR talking to them about their jobs.
“The constant can do attitude of the defenders we met at every location we visited and even though they were faced with harsh environments and sometimes lacking resources, the defenders always get it done,” said Jamerson. “With the right attitude and the right level of professionalism, they make sure the force is safe, and we can support air and coalition operations.”
Jamerson underscored three points with the defenders of the force: “Take care of each other because defenders know what other defenders need and that is how we ensure that everybody is ready and capable for this fight; take care of your equipment because we need it to be ready and focused for the threats we face; be innovative in expressing new thoughts and ideas because every Airman has a state in the future of our Air Force.”
