U.S. ARMY GARRISON YONGSAN, South Korea - A senior chief petty officer assigned to Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea was commissioned to chief warrant officer during a ceremony at the Fellowship Memorial Hall on U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan March 1.

Sailors of CNFK gathered together in Seoul to support Senior Chief Information Systems Technician George Tango as he received his commission to chief warrant fficer.

“A mustang will always have a bit of a wild streak,” said Capt. Glenn Leverette, deputy commander of CNFK. “But the knowledge and experience is invaluable to the Sailors they lead.”

After Tango’s senior chief anchors were removed and his oath was read, Tango joined the wardroom when his wife three children pinned his new rank.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support,” said Tango. “My shipmates, friends and my family, especially my wife. She’s my rock, and her strength allowed me to focus on my job. This isn’t just my promotion; I think this is our promotion. I couldn’t be nearly as strong without her.”
