    20th CBRNE Command

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - Soldiers from 20th CBRNE Command (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives) trained with interagency partners at Aberdeen Proving Ground during Prominent Hunt Academics from Feb. 22 – March 3.

Nuclear Disablement Team 3 and 2nd Platoon, 51st Chemical Company, served in the Ground Collection Task Force during Prominent Hunt Academics in support of the National Technical Nuclear Forensics (NTNF) Ground Collections Task Force (GCTF).

Prominent Hunt Academics prepare the team for a validation exercise to occur in the coming months. In the validation exercise, the interagency task force will respond to a simulated domestic nuclear or radiological attack. The task force collects nuclear or radiological samples from the attack for forensic analysis.

The NTNF-GCTF is an interagency task force composed of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Departments of Energy (DOE), and the Department of Defense (U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army).

Nuclear Disablement Team 3 is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. NDTs support counter-proliferation and elimination objectives by recommending how to dispose of nuclear material, conducting special nuclear material assessments and exploitation, and establishing and maintaining a temporary radiological source repository for nuclear material and radioactive sources.

The 2nd Platoon, 51st Chemical Company is located at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Their mission is to deter assess, neutralize and mitigate CBRN hazards and effects.
Both units are assigned to the 20th CBRNE Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.
