3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division PAO
TAJI, Iraq -- An Iraqi man trying to evade capture by donning a woman's dress was foiled yesterday morning by Soldiers of 4th Battalion, First Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Brigade, 1st Armored Division.
Alpha Battery Soldiers acting on intelligence data attempted to search a house south of Camp Taji, in the village of Al Haddi. When they knocked on the door, they heard shouting. Their translator told them a man was telling people to hide.
The owner of the house answered the door and said no one was there.
Soldiers searched the house and found 10 women in the last room. One seemed out of place. Upon taking a closer look, the Task Force Baghdad Soldiers discovered a man wearing a woman's dress.
Tests showed the terrorist dressed as a woman had recently handled explosives and the soldiers detained him for questioning.
Lt. Col. Michael Pappal, 3rd Brigade Executive Officer said, "It's not uncommon. He was merely trying to use camouflage to avoid capture.
However, this man learned dressing like a woman was a particularly poor choice for him."
