FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. - Executives with Comcast NBC Universal toured Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash., March 16, in conjunction with the inauguration of their Veterans Employee Resource Group located at the new Comcast Call Center in Spokane Valley, Wash.

In attendance was retired U.S. Army Brigadier General Carol Eggert, Comcast’s newest Vice President of Military and Veterans Affairs, and several other executive officers.

“As a retired military member, it’s important to bring our civilian counterparts to see these great, amazingly skilled and technically competent young military service members,” Eggert said. “For our civilian counterparts, it’s eye-opening. I wanted them to see that very young people can make things happen.”

Throughout the day, the group was briefed by Col. Brian McDaniel, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander, on the mission, purpose and history of Fairchild and the 92nd ARW. The executives were briefed on the ins-and-outs of the KC-135 Stratotanker and received a hands-on experience in the 92nd Operations Group refueling boom simulator.

The Comcast Call Center in Spokane Valley employees more than 50 retired military service members, military spouses and various other people associated with the military community. As the new VP of Military and Veterans Affairs, Eggert was excited for her executive colleagues to receive an inside-look of military operations.

“It’s eye-opening to see the amazing array of skills in which members of the military are learning today,” said Walter Neary, Comcast NBC Universal director of public relations and external affairs. “I could see my colleague’s eyes getting wider as they learned about how incredibly complex it is to get these aircraft in the air and conduct refueling. You can look at any Airman here and see the passion they have for the mission at Fairchild.”

The tour provided beneficial information to the group and gave them a better understanding of the military, the mission of Fairchild and how the men and women of Team Fairchild execute today’s rapid global mobility as well as prepare for tomorrow.
