    III Marine Expeditionary Force   

    United States Navy Mechanics Mate 2nd Class John Lazere from Cassandra, Pennsylvania, enlisted in October of 1943.

    He served as a Seabee in 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. He fought in the battles of Iwo Jima, Guam, Tinian and Saipan. During the battle of Iwo Jima he drove a crane picking up broken equipment.
