    III Marine Expeditionary Force   

    United States Marine Corps Corporal John P. Lauriello, 92, of Westmont, New Jersey, landed with the first wave of Marines on Red Beach during the Battle of Iwo Jima, February 19, 1945.

    Assigned to Headquarters and Support Company, 27th Marine Regiment, 5th Marine Division as an electronics repairman, he enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and served from October 1942 until January 1946.
