FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. - Fairchild held its first ever All-Star Basketball game at the Fitness Center Feb. 3. An All-Star game for each sport will be held at the end of every intramural season.
The teams for the All-Star games are selected from the top players in each sport.
The basketball game was between the Blue team, coached by Col. Brian McDaniel, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander, and the White team, coached by Chief Master Sgt. Christian Pugh, 92nd ARW command chief.
Before the game started, a 3-point shootout competition was held. The competition was between 13 players. Senior Airman Jan Michael Obiniana, 92nd Force Support Squadron intramural sports director, won the competition with (17) 3-point shots out of 25.
During halftime, a slam dunk contest was held. Four players participated and were scored based on the quality of the slam dunk. The winner of the slam dunk contest was Capt. Daniel Winningham, 93rd Air Refueling Squadron pilot, who received a score of 47 out of 50.
"For being the first of the All-Star games, I believe it went very well," Obiniana said. "With Col. McDaniel and Chief Master Sgt. Pugh there, it provided a good opportunity for players to meet base leadership."
The game ended with the White team beating the Blue team by only a few points, 83-79.
