U.S. Coast Guard District 8 PADET Houston

HOUSTON — A Coast Guard boat crew towed two men and their boat to safety Monday morning, after their boat lost power and they hit the rocks on the Galveston South Jetty.

The men made an emergency phone call just after 8 a.m., after losing power, and reported that they were about to hit the rocks. The Galveston Police Department contacted Coast Guard Station Galveston, who responded with their rescue boat as Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders diverted an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter. The aircrew confirmed the men's distress and the rescue boat crew arrived a few minutes later to tow the men to safety.

The boat and two men were towed back to the Texas City Dike. No injuries were reported.
