“This event was intended to strengthen the relationship between TARDEC and DARPA, making [DARPA] aware of our capabilities, getting our technical people involved with DARPA program managers so a relationship is strengthened and there is a mutual understanding of the things each partner can contribute,” said Steve Olevnik, TARDEC external business office.

The focus of the GXV-T workshop was to discuss the development of next generation ground vehicle technologies supported by modeling and simulation that will improve expeditionary mobility without sacrificing survivability. Other key components of the program included signature management and crew augmentation enhancements.

During the one-day event, DARPA and TARDEC program leads and industry contractors conducted productive round-table discussions concerning survivability through agility, radically enhanced mobility, and crew augmentation technologies. This was the first time all stakeholders were able to gather in one place which was an advantage of holding the event near the Detroit Arsenal.

According to its website, DARPA works within an innovation ecosystem that includes academic, corporate and governmental partners, with a constant focus on the nation’s military services, which work with DARPA to create new strategic opportunities and novel tactical options.

“TARDEC will continue to build its relationship with DARPA and to remain opportunistic so that we can further collaborate, bring better technology to ground vehicle platforms, and be most efficient with taxpayers funds in an austere fiscal climate,” said Jeff Jaczkowski, director of the TARDEC’s external business office.
