GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center, or DLIFLC which is headquartered in Monterey, Calif., opened a new language training facility, April 7, 2016, in Vilseck, Germany.
The Combined Arms Language Training Center, or CALTC, will provided military and civilian linguists throughout the European and African Command the opportunity to receive language training closer to their home duty stations in Europe.
"The leadership understands there is a need for growth in our language professionals. They also understand that in this region the best way to develop partnerships is through cultural and language understanding," said Col. Keith M. Logeman, the assistant commandant of DLIFLC. "That's why it makes perfect since to establish our newest center here in Vilseck with the Joint Multinational Training Command and Combined Arms Training Center where training is already premier."
CALTC will begin teaching Arabic, French, Persian-Farsi and Russian, however, it will offer individualized training based on the needs of the Soldiers and units.
About 250 students are expected to attend the Vilseck center annually and the number is expected to increase as new requirements and assignments arise.
