YAVORIV, Ukraine – Paratroopers from the 2nd Airborne Parachute Battalion, 25th Airborne Brigade successfully completed the second rotation of Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine, Apr. 29, 2016, at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center.
The paratroopers received a variety of training from a multinational team of trainers that was defensive-focused and included key tasks such as tactical combat casualty care and the military decision-making process. All of these training objectives are a part of JMTG-U’s efforts to help increase Ukraine’s capacity for self-defense.
“Your level of combat readiness is elevated and complimented by a unique esprit de corps found only in an airborne unit. You represent the spirit and tenacity of the paratrooper. Strive to continue this momentum in being that learning and adaptive unit,” said Col. Nick Ducich, JMTG-U commander.
Over the previous weeks, the paratroopers of 2-25 Airborne completed a series of live-fire exercises and situational tactical exercises culminating with a battalion exercise in which the paratroopers applied all the skills acquired during their nine weeks of training to a force-on-force week along event.
Leading the multinational training team were U.S. Army Soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division along with the California Army National Guard, Canadian Armed Forces, and the Lithuanian Land Forces. The array of instructors worked together to deliver a standard program of instruction that was practical for the Ukrainian army but also focused on general NATO standards.
“The ‘Can Do’ Soldiers of 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry, the Soldiers of the Canadian and Lithuanian contingents, represent the best of the NATO alliance and served you well. The camaraderie, friendship and mutual respect as brother-in-arms remains an enduring bond beyond this training,” said Ducich.
The team of trainers from the Lithuanian Land Forces were also recognized during the graduation and were presented with coins for their hard work and efforts during the rotation.
JMTG-U will continue with the third rotation beginning with an opening ceremony on May 7.
