    Airman 1st Class Christopher Grant scores two goals as Air Force smash the Marine Corps 5-0 to open the 2016 Armed Forces Men’s Soccer Championship held at Fort Benning, Ga. on 7 May.

    Air Force held off a barrage of shots on goal during the first ten minutes of the match, before capitalizing on a solid shot by 2nd lt. Scott McGillivray in the 15th minute (15’).

    Before halftime, Air Force would take the lead 4-0 with goals from Grant (28’), 1st Lt. Darren Nottingham (39’) and Staff Sgt. Nicholas Cardenas (41’).

    Grant scored his second goal (53’) in the second half to seal the deal.

    Air Force will face Navy in match three and Marine Corps will face Army in match four on May 9th.

    The 2016 Armed Forces Championship format consists of round robin play, where each team faces one another once for seeding. The top two best records will face one another in the championship match to claim the 2016 Armed Forces crown.

    Army won the 2015 Armed Forces Men’s Championship and are looking to repeat.
