HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD, Ga. – The senior enlisted advisor for the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, Command Sgt. Maj. George Dove held a Town Hall meeting for the noncommissioned officers of the Falcon brigade on Hunter Army Airfield May 9.
The Town Hall meetings gave Dove the opportunity to communicate with all of the NCO’s about a wide variety of topics such as health care, maintenance, physical training, and overall readiness. It was also a chance to check for any unresolved issues in the battalions.
“You are the most important population of people we have in the Army,” said Dove addressing the sergeants and staff sergeants in the audience.
Dove was referring to the fact that these are the first line supervisors. These Soldiers represent where the “rubber meets the road.”
“The question every Soldier needs to ask themselves is are you ready to deploy, fight and win,” Dove said.
Master Sgt. Michael Resmondo, Troop Charlie, 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment was present for the meeting and said it was a good tool for connecting with Soldiers and getting a good feeling for what is going on in the brigade.
“It went very well. We all got insight from the brigade command sergeant major on what the senior leadership in the Army is looking at,” Resmondo said.
As a senior NCO Resmondo said he is privy to a little more information than the junior NCO’s. While there was not too much he had not heard before, he did agree that the first line supervisors were the most important in the room.
“They are the first line for the Soldiers. They are the ones that take care of Soldiers and make missions happen,” Resmondo said. “Their direct leadership involved with those Soldiers is what makes the Army function.”
Another NCO Staff Sgt. Charlotte Cluff, Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment attended the Town Hall meeting.
“I actually learned a few things today,” Cluff said. “I learned a lot about the future of the Army basically.”
Cluff also said the meeting was a good opportunity to have a voice with the brigade command sergeant major.
“I think it was an open door for people to voice their opinions on things,” Cluff said. “It was good to talk about things we are having issues with. Command sergeant major Dove did a great job in making us feel like we could talk to him.”
