Get There, Do Something, Show the World: 2nd Cavalry Regiment Joint Static Display

    VYSKOV, CZECH REPUBLIC

    05.29.2016

    Story by Sgt. Caitlyn Byrne

    10th Press Camp Headquarters Wolfpack

“It makes me feel great,” said Capt. Kate Mason, legal advisor for 2nd Cavalry Regiment, describing her feelings about the mission and joint static display. “It’s been amazing getting to interact with the civilian population who came out today; everyone I’ve had a chance to speak with has been really excited and happy to be here, they’re excited to see the different machines that we have, especially when they are right next to their Czech military vehicles as well.”

Soldiers completed the second leg of their tactical road march in Stryker Combat Vehicles from Rose Barracks, Germany and arrived in Vyskov, May 28, as part of Exercise Dragoon Ride. On their journey approximately 1,400 Soldiers, in 400 vehicles, will be covering over 2,200 kilometers, through six countries. Dragoon Ride is conducted to validate our partnering allies’ abilities to assemble forces rapidly, deploy them on short notice and improve the ability to shoot, move and communicate as a multinational alliance.

“Our mission is get there, do something and show the world,” said Mason. “So ‘get there,’ would be us traveling from Germany, through Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and ending in Estonia. We’re going to get there and ‘do something;’ we’re doing a live fire exercise when we get to Estonia and along the way we’re demonstrating interoperability with our host nations and NATO allies, and then we’re going to ‘tell the world,’ and that’s what we’re doing here and we’re doing a great job of it today.”
