NOVO SELO TRAINING AREA, Bulgaria – Soldiers with the 194th Engineer Brigade Tennessee Army National Guard arrive in Bulgaria after a 12-hour flight by C17 Mil-Air on May, 2, 2016. The C17 was flown by the 164th Air Wing from Memphis, Tennessee to Burgas, Bulgaria. After deplaning, the 194th Engineer Brigade was transported to Novo Selo Training Area, Bulgaria to conduct Overseas Deployment Training, Resolute Castle 16, which includes construction and military police operations.
Resolute Castle 16 (RC 16) is nested under Operation Atlantic Resolve – a NATO led operation. The purpose of Operation Atlantic Resolve is to strengthen partnerships and interoperability with our NATO allies and partners. RC 16 strengthens those partnerships through training site improvements and military police training in Romania, Bulgaria, Estonia, and Hungary. RC 16 is comprised of a multi-component task force including Active Duty, Navy Seabees, and multi-state National Guard forces. The 194th Engineer Brigade will hold mission command for all the operations within Resolute Castle 16.
Many 194th soldiers are returning for their second year to Novo Selo Training Area and are excited to continue their work.
“I am looking forward to seeing the progression of the training sites since the end of Resolute Castle 15. We made many improvements last year and I am excited to see what we can get accomplished during RC16," stated Spc. Heather Carris, a survey and design specialist with the 194th Engineer Brigade.
