CINCU, Romania -- Soldiers of the 214th Military Police Company, Alabama Army National Guard from Alexander City, Ala., are participating in Operation Resolute Castle 16 in Cincu, Romania from May 20 to June 10, 2016. They are working hand-in-hand with both Romanian and U.S. Army Engineers by providing security to the job sites that the engineers are actively working on.
Resolute Castle 16 is nested within Operation Atlantic Resolveāa United States Army and Europe-led multi-national operation that strengthens the US partnership with NATO allies. RC 16 is an ongoing joint training and security cooperation between the US and NATO allies and partners, showing our commitment to the collective security of NATO. These operations create opportunities for the US and allied leaders to collectively train, operate, and win in a complex environment through solid partnerships.
The 214th MP Company will be running day and night shifts to ensure that all equipment that the engineers are using is secure. The Judge Advocate General is responsible for ensuring all soldiers receive a Rules of Engagement (ROE) brief when outside of the United States and in possession of weapons. Capt. Ternisha Miles, Judge Advocate General, 226th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Alabama Army National Guard, gave that brief and provided guidance to all MPs so that everyone was clear on their obligations, rights, and orders.
The 214th MPs are also incorporating various types of training to supplement the time they have between shifts, during down time and during their off days. This training includes injured shooter training, room clearing drills, riot control, detainee operations, area security, hand-to-hand combat drills and numerous others. Military Police have various responsibilities when on duty. Training these drills regularly helps them remain alert and steadfast if they find themselves in threatening situations.
Resolute Castle 16 allows the 214th Military Police Company to build partnerships with Romanian Land Forces and the Alabama Army National Guard. This annual training rotation provides the opportunity to develop strong partnerships among diverse groups that do not normally get the chance to work together. These partnerships help to ensure seamless transition and fluid operations during future missions. Soldiers have the chance to use their skills while interacting with various types of counterparts in any given situation.
