“In the time you’ve been here, you have been a father, a brother, and a mentor to all these Marines [in 2nd MLG]. You’ve done a great job,” said Maj. Gen. Walter L. Miller the commanding general of II Marine Expeditionary Force.
Chiarotti thanked those in attendance and looked back on his time as the logistics commander. He also looked to the crowd and stated that he has faith that Col. Daniel P. O’Hora, his successor, will continue improving the logistics group.
“I can think of no better officer to take my place until [the new commanding general arrives],” said Chiarotti. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve these Marines.”
The two took part in a time-honored tradition, the passing of the colors, to signify the passing of responsibilities.
Chiarotti was commissioned Dec. 21, 1985, and has been in command of countless Marines since that time. Later this summer he will assume command as the deputy commander of U.S. Forces Japan.
