William Beaumont Army Medical Center held a change of command ceremony for Company B, Troop Command, where Capt. Christen M. Barnhill relinquished command to Capt. Ligia I. Rodriguez-Rosado at WBAMC, June 21.

Company B, which is the largest company at WBAMC, is responsible for the training and administrative support to over 600 Soldiers who have various specialties ranging from administrative positions to medical doctors.

“I have truly enjoyed every day I have spent working with Capt. Barnhill,” said Lt. Col. Stacey Freeman, commander, Troop Command. “I have no doubts that (Rodriguez-Rosado) will continue to contribute to the great advancements Bravo Company has made over the past nine months.”

During the ceremony the company colors were passed from the company’s first sergeant to Barnhill, then to Lt. Col. Stacey Freeman, commander, Troop Company, then to Rodriguez-Rosado and back to the first sergeant, signifying her receipt of authority and responsibilities as the company commander.

“The long days and long nights aren’t without reason. What we do isn’t about us; it’s about taking care of each other,” said Barnhill, as she recognized her staff’s dedication to duty.

Freeman, who previously worked with Barnhill in the operating room, said she was familiar with Barnhill’s work ethic so she knew she was somebody she could rely on to be interim commander for B Company.

“The workload can be tremendous at times but also very rewarding,” said Barnhill, a native of Deland, Florida. “You are truly a great company.”

Rodriguez-Rosado, a native of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, previously served as the executive officer of the McAfee U.S. Army Health Clinic, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.

“It takes special men and women to join the military; we all know this is not an ordinary job,” said Rodriguez-Rosado. “It’s an honor to command such a group of professionals.”
