RALEIGH, N.C. – Col. Brian Pierce was honored for his more than three decades of Military service during his retirement ceremony held at Joint Force Headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, July 8, 2016.
Pierce joined the Army in the summer of 1987 and later joined the North Carolina National Guard in 1990.
During the ceremony Pierce was presented with several plaques and awards recognizing him for his dedication to the state and his country, including the North Carolina Distinguished Service Medal and the Legion of Merit Award.
Pierce thanked many people who he said helped him throughout his career.
“We’re an organization of people and we’re an organization of service and we serve the people,” Pierce said. “That’s what I’ll miss the most, the people.”
Pierce most recently served as the Director of Aviation and Safety for the North Carolina National Guard.
The ceremony was followed by a small reception.
