SOUTH CHINA SEA (July 24, 2016) The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Decatur (DDG 73) conducted a patrol in the South China Sea as part of the U.S. 3rd Fleet Pacific Surface Action Group (PAC SAG) deployment in the Indo-Asia-Pacific.
"Our goal here is to conduct professional and lawful patrols in order to
contribute to maritime security and stability in this region of the
Pacific," said Cmdr. Garrett Miller, Commanding Officer, USS Decatur.
The guided missile destroyers USS Momsen (DDG 92) and USS Spruance (DDG 111) are deployed with Decatur to the Indo-Asia Pacific as a Pacific Surface Action Group.
Decatur departed homeport San Diego on April 19th to rendezvous with Momsen and Spruance in Pearl Harbor. The PAC SAG has since completed Joint exercises and maritime operations with Pacific partners, participated in the Oceania Maritime Security Initiative, and patrolled the Indo-Asia Pacific in order to support regional maritime security and Pacific partner cooperation operations.
