For over 40 years, Nellis’ Red Flag exercise has helped sharpen the skills of America’s war fighters by providing dynamic experiences that can’t be duplicated at most participating unit’s home station.
SB: Red Flag's a great opportunity for our unit and our base mainly because we get the opportunity to integrate with all these different assets that we wouldn't actually get to train with at home. And not only that but were put against a very realistic threat and an adversary.
New Jersey’s Air National Guard attends Red Flag every other year...
SB:This exercise helps in a real world event in a probably a few different ways from the planning portion we have the ability to see the execution for mission planning all the way out to our actual flights. and then looking at it from air craft generation and bringing maintenance into the loop as well so generating sorties to meet the mission set that were trying to go out and do. The biggest thing were hoping to take away from this exercise is trying to understand how we fit into the large scale of conflicts that we would be participating in if we ever went to war with somebody.
Red Flag continues to provide the most advanced realistic tactical war fighting exercise in the world, ensuring each participant has the advantage in any conflict. Airman First Class Christina Ensley, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.
