Col. Gyula Kovács relinquished the responsibilities, while Col. Vilmos Nosza assumed the positions of chief of staff and chief support during a transfer-of-authority ceremony on Camp Butmir, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Aug. 10, 2016.
The ceremony was hosted by Brig. Gen. Giselle Wilz, NATO Headquarters Sarajevo (NHQSa) commander.
General Wilz thanked Colonel Kovács for his commitment, loyalty and demand of excellence. “You have been a true military ambassador for Hungary, and a great example of the professionalism of the Hungarian Defense Force,” the general said. “I wish you the best of luck in your future.”
Colonel Kovács also addressed the crowd of attendees. “The time finally has come, and as happens to all good things, my job here must end,” he said.
The colonel then reflected on his 12 months as the chief of staff and chief support for NHQSa. He summed it up with a simple quote, “Time is not measured by the passing of years, but by what one does, what one feels and what one achieves.”
For the incoming chief of staff and chief support, Colonel Nosza, the general’s message was focused on the upcoming year. “Welcome aboard; I know you will be set-up for success,” General Wilz said. “I look forward to working with you as part of this great team.”
Colonel Nosza stepped up to the podium and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work at NHQSa. “It is a please and an honor for me to join NHQSa, and to contribute in my function as chief of staff and chief support to NATO’s important mission is supporting BiH Defense and Security Sector Reform,” the colonel said. “I offer my unconditional support and cooperation the staff here, and in turn, I only request the same: dedication to the mission, commitment to work, mutual support and constructive cooperation.”
