CAMP SHELBY, Miss.— Class 58 of the Mississippi Army National Guard's Officer Candidate School Class graduated Aug. 14, 2016.
Carley Davis, along with the other nine candidates who completed the course, was excited to be graduating. “I’m happy to be done with the program, it’s a great program that develops leaders and teaches us leadership skills that we need to pursue our careers as officers,” Davis said.
The course was physically and mentally demanding as it shaped the Soldiers into being effective leaders, ready to assume positions throughout the Mississippi Army National Guard as a second lieutenant.
“Someone looking to do this should be physically fit and mentally tough,” said Davis. “The instructors will stress you out and they’ll try to get you to give up.”
Davis and his nine classmates agreed that anyone could graduate from Officer Candidate School as long as they stay focused and don’t give up.
Before leaving the ceremony, Davis added, “In the end, winners will rise to the top.”
