By the International Security Assistance Force - Afghanistan
BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – Four Afghan non-combatants were killed in two separate rocket attacks on International Security Assistance Force bases in Khost province today.
The first rocket attack occurred shortly after midnight this morning when thirteen rockets were fired by anti-Afghan forces inside Afghanistan, killing one non-combatant. Only one rocket impacted an ISAF base, causing minimal damage and no ISAF casualties. ISAF responded with both artillery fire and an airstrike on the launch location. Additional rockets were later recovered and detonated by ISAF forces near the launch location this morning.
The second attack of five rockets, launched from inside Pakistan, occurred around dusk.
At least one rocket impacted the village of Kundai, near the ISAF base, which killed three non-combatants.
One local national male was injured when a separate rocket impacted a dining facility on one of the ISAF bases. He was transported by ISAF units to a military hospital where he is in stable condition.
ISAF responded with artillery fired in self-defense at the launch site located approximately 300 meters inside Pakistan.
No other damage was reported on either ISAF base.
