BUSAN, Republic of Korea (NNS) -- The Avenger-class mine countermeasure ship USS Pioneer (MCM 9) arrived in Busan, Republic of Korea (ROK), the new home for the U.S. Navy in Korea, Aug. 26, 2016.
The regularly scheduled port visit is an opportunity for Sasebo-based Sailors to experience the culture and history of the ROK, as well as foster outstanding relations between the U.S. Navy, ROK military and the local Busan community..
Pioneer, part of Mine Countermeasures Squadron 7 and Amphibious Force 7th Fleet, is conducting a routine patrol in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of partnership building and regional security.
Commander, Amphibious Force U.S. 7th Fleet, is the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force, headquartered at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa.
