Story by Staff Sgt. Christopher Ruano

    90th Missile Wing

The 90th Logistics Readiness Squadron performs vital functions for the base, and its personnel are armed with more than a wrench to repair vehicles. The men and women who serve are armed with the knowledge that what they do is important and contributes to the overall success of the base and the nuclear deterrence mission.

Some of those vital functions are supply management and ensuring gear needed to accomplish the ICBM mission is ordered, repaired and tracked. One Airman charged with making sure those duties are done with dedication and excellence is Airman 1st Class Ndap Tah, 90th LRS equipment accountability element.

“The LRS mission states we provide the full spectrum of agile logistical support to the world’s premier combat-ready ICBM force,” Tah said. “Part of my role in that is ordering equipment for units to ensure they have what they need to complete their mission in the missile field and on base; their mission depends on our mission getting accomplished.”

The element’s newest member added that the reason he comes to work every day is to support the team. He was born in Cameroon and joined the Air Force in 2015 in order to be part of something bigger than himself, said the 29 year-old African native.

“I joined the Air Force in November 2015 and it’s been an awesome journey since,” Tah said. “I’ve faced new and interesting challenges and have had a lot of mentors along the way to teach me the ropes.”

Those who have helped him along the way have ensured he knows how LRS fits into the bigger picture.

“The vision of the 90th LRS is a highly disciplined and motivated team of skilled logistics professionals delivering unparalleled fighting capabilities,” Tah said. “That’s having the right resources at the right place and right time, every time.”

Staff Sgt. Robert Mussyal, 90th LRS equipment accountability element NCO in charge and new supervisor, said that Tah is exactly what you want in an Airman.

“Since he first got here he started learning his job quickly and is super motivated,” Mussyal said. “He is currently pressing on a tasker to collect data on 292 assets worth more than $190 million and is in charge of tracking 105 equipment accounts.”

Tah attributes some of his motivation to how lucky he feels to be serving in the Air Force. Originally, enlisting wasn’t an option and he was only able to join after a policy change to age limits. The fact that his goal was a challenge has instilled an even greater appreciation for the Air Force as well as his career field.

“If we were not here doing our job, it would cause a ripple effect,” Tah said. “We touch every squadron on base so we have to be out in front to ready them for the mission. That’s why they call us the readiness squadron.”
