YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea – More than 30 Soldiers from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard’s 213th Regional Support Group headquarters joined their active-duty and allied forces counterparts to participate in Ulchi Freedom Guardian 2016.
The largest computerized command and control exercise in the world, UFG focuses on increasing the readiness and interoperability of Republic of Korea and U.S. forces to defend the Republic of Korea in case of an attack.
The 213th Regional Support Group Headquarters was focused on logistics for the exercise, collaborating with other members of the armed forces.
The mission provided the members of the 213th Regional Support Group an excellent training opportunity, according to Lt. Col. Laura McHugh, 213th Regional Support Group commander.
“Ulchi Freedom Guardian provided us a great opportunity not only to exercise our staff but also offered our Soldiers the experience of working alongside our Korean, active duty and Army Reserve partners,” she said.
Ulchi Freedom Guardian kicked off Aug. 18 continued for approximately two weeks.
Organized in 1849, the 213th Regional Support Group has a long history of providing support for both state and active duty operations. The 213th Regional Support Group consists of more than twenty specialized units located throughout the commonwealth. The units that represent the 213th Regional Support Group include finance, maintenance, personnel, sustainment, transportation, engineer, military police, contracting, public affairs, and hazardous materials organizations.
