The challenge consisted of Marine Corps drill, obstacle courses, low crawls, pull-ups, and ammo can lifts. Nashville residents and tourist were given a stamp card that they would be able to fill out as they visited and completed each station.
“We had an awesome turn out for this event the community really supported us, they showed us a lot of love and support,” said Sgt. Donald Fowler, a Martial Arts Center of Excellence instructor from Marine Corps Base Quantico. “My favorite thing about the event was the interaction with the public. Some of the people had no idea what Marines do, some had no idea that Marines even existed so interacting with everybody and telling everybody what we do was my favorite thing here.”
Marines were able to interact with the civilians and explain to some of them what the Marine Corps is and what they do.
“It has been very impressive. It is one thing to see the equipment on T.V. and in the Internet, but to see up close and personal was very impressive,” said one of the Nashville residents who attended the Boot Camp challenge. “It has kind of been overwhelming the amount of time and effort put into setting something like this up, all around this has been a really good event.”
The event allowed the Nashville residents and the Marines to interact with each other and gain a better relationship with each other.
“Marines love to serve the public and we love the public. We are here to serve the people,” said Fowler. “We love to do our job and we do our job well.”
