MISAWA, Japan (NNS) -- More than 100,000 people traveled to Misawa Airbase in order to spectate the 2016 Air Fest Sep. 11, 2016.
The air fest has numerous aircraft static displays from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF).
The list of events contains: a rescue and parachute demonstration, several air craft demonstration and fly-bys, and also an air show with the JASDF’s “Blue Impulse” flight team.
“This is a great opportunity to share this experience with our host nation,” said Navy Aircrewman (Mechanical) 2nd Class John Kruszewski, a presenter for the C-12 Aircraft static display. “I have never seen so many people here, this is an awesome atmosphere.”
Other naval participants in the air show included Electronic Attack Squadron 138, Patrol Squadron FIVE, and also Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron Fourteen
Along with the numerous aircraft and activities, countless food booths are set up from both U.S. and Japanese organizations.
