Officers from the Coast Guard Research and Development Center compete in the Niantic Bay Triathlon
NIANTIC, Conn. - As part of an ongoing commitment to health promotion and community involvement, Coast Guard Research and Development Center officers recently competed in the Niantic Bay Sprint Triathlon, held on August 7, 2016, in Niantic. Lt. Chuck Clark competed individually, while Lt. Cmdr. Sam Nassar and Lt. Joe DiRenzo represented Team RDC.
The sprint-length triathlon kicked off with DiRenzo completing the 1/2-mile swim in Niantic Bay, followed by Nassar’s 11.2-mile bicycle road ride through East Lyme, Connecticut. Participants wrapped up with a 3.2-mile road run from East Lyme to the beach finish line on Niantic Bay.
The RDC members finished with competitive times and reinvigorated their commitments to representing service and promoting fitness options in the local area. Bravo Zulu to these Coast Guardsmen for model performance and true esprit de corps!
