MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BUTLER, Okinawa - A Marine with 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force was pronounced dead after an apparent drowning accident at Maeda Point, Onna Village, Kunagami District, Okinawa at approximately 3:40 p.m. (JST) today.
The thoughts and prayers of the entire command are with the Marine's family, friends and unit service members. An official investigation into the exact cause of death has been initiated and no additional details of the incident are available at this time. The name of the Marine will be withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin.
