KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Children's voices and laughter echoed through the Isochronal Inspection dock at the 403rd Wing Children's Holiday Party today, while the scent of pizza and popcorn filled the air.
"This party is just a little something to give back to the kids for the time they do without their parents throughout the year, and this is a little show of our appreciation for letting us borrow their mom or dad," said Master Sgt. Thomas Lassabe, 41st Aerial Port Squadron first sergeant.
Children ran around in sock feet playing in a jump house, an inflatable slide and an inflatable obstacle course.
Tables were set up providing crafts, colors and coloring books for the kids to play. The key spouses provided small gift bags of candy for the children and family members.
"There will be events and activities to enjoy," said Lassabe. "And Santa will be here to hand out gifts."
Santa arrived in a fire truck, handed out gifts and hung around to take pictures with the kids.
Senior Airman Matthew McCoy, 403rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron aircraft mechanic, said, "It was nice getting out and seeing everyone else with their kids."
McCoy's wife Shawn said, "This was our second year of attending and we had a lot of fun, even though our daughter, Maggie, was terrified of Santa. This was her first visit with Santa."
Lassabe said, "Hopefully everyone had a good time at the party."
