FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. – The director of the Army National Guard, Lt. Gen. Timothy Kadavy, visited various locations hosting the Warfighter Exercise 17-2 here Nov. 16.

The exercise was the first division-level training event host at Fort Indiantown Gap, the busiest National Guard training site in the United States.

Brig. Gen. Anthony Carrelli, adjutant general, Pennsylvania, and Col. Robert Hepner, base commander of Fort Indiantown Gap, greeted Kadavy and his aides at Muir Airfield and escorted them to key Warfighter locations.

“It was a real honor to host Maj. Gen. Kadavy during this exercise, which clearly showed the capacity of Fort Indiantown Gap to successfully host large exercises and the ability of Pennsylvania National Guard units to work effectively with other states and with the National Guard Bureau in a joint environment,” said Carrelli.

Kadavy took time to meet with lower enlisted Soldiers and airmen to answer their questions about the National Guard and to hear their experiences during the exercise. He also ate lunch with the troops, who represented the Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, and Kentucky National Guards

“It was a great visit, and you guys took good care of me,” said Kadavy as he walked on to the tarmac at Muir Airfield at the end of his tour.

Both Kadavy and Carrelli said they look forward to working together to host similar training exercises here in the future.
