KEESLER AFB, Miss. -- During October UTA, Maj. Daniel Johnson assumed command of the 403rd Logistics Readiness Squadron.
Although he is new to the 403rd Wing, his previous role as chief of Logistics Readiness for 22nd Air Force involved conducting a Readiness Assistance Visit to the wing as it prepared for an Operational Readiness Inspection held in January.
In addition to a decade of experience in logistics, his Air Force career includes assignments as an enlisted dental assistant, a medical officer and manager of the Minute Man III Launch Control Facility in Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota.
"One of my goals is to continue with the mission of making the 403rd LRS the squadron of choice...the 'go to' squadron if anything needs to be done," Johnson said.
Another goal involves planning for the possible "re-missioning" 403rd aircraft, which would involve a lot of work for the 403rd LRS, he added.
"I just went through a re-missioning at 22nd Air Force, and there are personnel issues that come up," Johnson explained. "We can play a role in smoothing them out so that people understand what's happening and know what to expect."
Johnson assumed command from Maj. Rodney McCraine.
"I hope to utilize my experience to help the squadron continue along the road from 'good' to great,' Johnson said.
