Riffe most recently served as a logistics readiness officer with the 168th Logistics Readiness Squadron. Col. Jack R. Evans, commander of the 168th Mission Support Group, was the presiding officer for the ceremony.
“Capt. Riffe has a lot of hard work ahead of him as a drill status guardsman, having to commute here for drill weekends,” said Evans. “But he has a strong and hard working group of Airmen getting things done when he isn’t here.”
Riffe originally enlisted into the United States Navy in October 1993. In January 1998 he transitioned into the U.S. Navy Reserve. After six years, he separated to focus on his civilian career. Riffe then reenlisted in the Alaska Air National Guard in February 2009 and was soon selected for commissioning in August 2010.
“I never imagined being in this position when I first joined the military,” said Riffe. During the ceremony, he thanked his parents for pushing him throughout the years. Riffe’s wife could not attend the ceremony but he talked about the impact she has had on his success.
As commander of the security forces squadron, Riffe is responsible for leading security forces programs, including installation security, air base defense, law enforcement, training and resource protection. He also oversees Combat Arms Training and Maintenance, as well as weapon inventory. In addition, he supports both Pacific Air Forces plans and state of Alaska disaster response.
