The Presidents' Day Holiday is a time to honor the achievements of our past Commanders in Chief, leaders who built our great nation and brought freedom to many parts of the world. These esteemed men built the United States of America on a foundation of ideals and values that we, in turn, uphold as Soldiers in this magnificent Army. Each of you are an invaluable member of our TSC family, and I appreciate all of your hard work and accomplishments to "Sustain the Force." Remain vigilant with risk management and continue to employ risk mitigation to the fullest extent. Within the 8th TSC, we have some of the most dangerous jobs in the world - explosive ordinance disposal, construction, demolitions, law enforcement, diving - but most accidents happen off-duty.
As we celebrate our rich history of American Presidents, implement risk management control measures at every level of leadership and in all you do. Leaders need to focus on Soldiers' and Civilian employees' safe and responsible behaviors in support of the 8th TSC's goal of a holiday free of accidents and fatalities. Leaders should address weather conditions, sports-related injury avoidance, responsible alcohol consumption, and heeding surf conditions/beach warning signs as tools to identify risk and develop appropriate risk management strategies in their safety briefs.
Maintaining a safe and healthy workplace while accomplishing the mission is every leader's responsibility. As you take a much deserved break, continue to engage your Soldiers and help them mitigate risks both on and off duty. We sustain the force by staying safe. Soldiers and their families should enjoy Hawaii and all it has to offer, but take care to maintain readiness by taking steps to mitigate risk to yourself and others. Please utilize the K.l.S.S. Safety Tips located in the 8th TSC SharePoint Safety page (requires CAC access) by clicking the K.l.S.S. Safety lips logo. This link takes you to many activity folders where threat discussions, hazard analysis products, risk control/counter measure recommendations and other useful information may be found about each activity. Some high risk activity folders have recommended counselling for supervisors to use if desired. It is designed to provide quick access to an abundance of information that will help us remain safe.
Sustain the Force, and Stay Safe!
