    TALLINN, Estonia – The mission continues as Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, march in Estonia’s Independence Day Parade through Freedom Square, Feb. 24, 2017 in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

    Operation Atlantic Resolve is a U.S. led effort in Eastern Europe that demonstrates U.S. commitment to the collective security of NATO and dedication to enduring peace and stability in the region.

    The parade was held to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Estonia and featured service members from seven countries. The Soldiers of 1-68 AR, represented the United States commitment to the region in reassuring NATO Allies and strengthening deterrence capabilities with partnered forces.

    “The Estonian independence day parade was an outstanding opportunity for us to partner with the Estonian people and display the strength of our united partnership,” said Staff Sgt. Taveis Stevens, Bradley section leader, Company C, 1-68 AR.

    Presiding over the parade was the Chief of the Estonian Defence Forces and was reviewed by the Estonian President, Kersti Kaljulaid. Other countries represented at the parade were all branches of Estonia’s armed forces, the United Kingdom, and color guards from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Denmark.

    The United States military participates in these multinational exercises to familiarize Soldiers with their counterparts in Allied and partnered countries and demonstrates the commitment of the U.S. to NATO and the region.

    The crowd of spectators cheered as the different country’s units marched by, some singing cadences, followed by the numerous different wheeled and tracked vehicles.

    “It was truly an honor to interact with such welcoming citizens and enjoy the beauty and culture that the historic city of Tallinn has to offer,” explained Stevens.
