She’s on her second enlistment serving primarily as a petroleum supply specialist, also known as a fueler, and is currently adding to her Army career path by training as a Global Combat Support System Army (GCSS-A) clerk. Philpott was awarded the Combat Action Badge while serving overseas in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Growing up in a military family, this Stockbridge, Georgia native says she was inspired by her father's service in the U.S. Navy and welcomed the challenge of being called upon for service.
"We, in this country, are provided opportunities that are not afforded to everyone," Philpott said. “Women and girls have limitations placed on them [in other countries] that we do not have here, and people are not free to worship, marry and learn as they please. As a Soldier, I am protecting our rights - and that's why I serve."
