Marrero is six years into his military career and was recently chosen to work in what is known as the 'S3' shop, or the office handling battalion operations, planning and training. More specifically, Marrero is the "S3 Air NCOIC," the airborne operations noncommissioned officer in charge. This means he helps facilitate the coordination of all things HHBn airborne ops.
In his two and a half years as a jumpmaster, Marrero has trained over 400 Paratroopers and has 27 jumps of his own.
He said that because he enlisted straight out of high school, he has grown up in the Army and knew he had made the right decision when he was promoted to sergeant in 2013.
"I knew I would strive for bigger and better things," Marrero added.
As a family man, this Puerto Rico native said he does his best everyday with his family in mind. Marrero added he would love to see his children follow in his footsteps if they so chose, and encouraging soldiers is what brings him joy on the job.
"The best part of my job is leading soldiers, training soldiers and instilling confidence in our primary skill set, which is airborne operations as paratroopers," Marrero said. "I owe it to my [home] of Puerto Rico to make the best of the opportunity that I was given by the Army to give back. I love what I do and that's why I serve."
