FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Paratroopers assigned to XVIII Airborne Corps’ Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion conducted Airborne assault training Feb. 23, 2017 at Sicily Drop Zone, N.C.
During Airborne assault training missions, paratroopers go through a series of exercises to make sure each Soldier is safe and ready for each operation.
Paratroopers typically start their operation with a “manifest call” to make sure that each Soldier on the mission is accounted for.
The Soldiers will then go through “mock door” an airplane mockup to practice the jump commands and aircraft procedures that they will be given during their actual airborne assault.
After “manifest call”, “mock door” and various other steps, each Soldier will put on, and have their their parachute equipment checked, by other paratroopers, supervisors and specialists trained to double check equipment.
Paratroopers from his unit dropped from heights above 1,200 feet to complete their Airborne missions.
The XVIII Airborne Corps is the Army’s strategic response force, trained to be ready around the clock to deploy, fight and win the Nation’s battles.
