The Deputy Commandant of Marine Corps Installations and Logistics, Lt. Gen. Michael G. Dana, visited 2nd Marine Logistics Group at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on March 13, 2017.
The visit allowed Dana to speak with Marines from 2nd MLG and Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command about new technology and how it will enhance every Marine’s ability to accomplish the mission.
Throughout the morning, Dana spoke to the Marines about training, logistics support requirements, innovation and new technology, and enterprise solutions to better the Marine Corps’ logistics processes.
Combat Logistics Regiment 25 used a 3D printer and made a part to a piece of equipment. They also showcased an Explosive Ordnance Disposal robot that is able to move around, pick up items and transmit video to a portable control center that can be operated from safe distances.
“This technology will continue to evolve,” said Dana. “We are in an era of Hybrid Logistics where current systems will be used alongside newer, smarter integrated systems that will make the Marine better connected, more lethal and better equipped.”
The emerging technology gives Marines the necessary tools to distribute equipment needed to successfully complete their mission.
“The young Marines are full of energy and ideas, so it was great to see the ways we are able to support the warfighter,” said Dana.
