FOB WARRIOR, Iraq -- Soldiers from the 116th Brigade Combat Team's Task Force 2-116 Armor paid another visit to the Azadi Hospital pediatric floor in Kirkuk, Iraq, June 19 to deliver school supplies, toys and other items to patients.
Some soldiers from the unit visited to the hospital May 31 and the unit plans to make regular visits.
During this visit the soldiers from the medical platoon, from TF 2-116 Armor's headquarters company were accompanied by Command Sgt. Maj. Henry Chin, TF 2-116 Armor's senior non-commissioned officer.
"The families and children always meet the soldiers with warm smiles and appreciate the small gestures of kindness," said Chin after the visit.
Providing humanitarian assistance to Iraqi citizens is one of the favorite missions of 116th BCT soldiers in Iraq. The 116th BCT multi-faceted missions also include establishing security, aiding the Iraqi government, supporting economic development and facilitating communications.
With component units from the states of Idaho, Oregon Montana, Utah, North Dakota, New Jersey and Maryland, the 116th BCT is one of several Army National Guard units that is deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III.
