Marine Corps Recruiting Command launched a new brand idea called Battles Won March 17. The supporting advertising campaign is aimed at the recruitable population and their influencers (i.e., parents, teachers, coaches and community leaders). It is designed to showcase “who we are and what we do” to our audiences.
The Battles Won brand idea taps into the irreducible essence of the Marine Corps, which is the fighting spirit of the Marine. The essence of the Marines individually and collectively is the willingness to engage and the determination to defeat an opposing force – whether personal or on behalf of our nation and its communities.
“Marine Corps Recruiting Command, with its advertising partner J. Walter Thompson, is currently creating and releasing materials under the Battles Won brand idea,” said Lieutenant Col. John Caldwell, Assistant Chief of Staff, Marketing and Public Affairs, MCRC. “The new campaign is intended to inform and inspire America’s youth and their influencers with compelling content conveying the Marine Corps’ story of Making Marines, Winning Our Nation’s Battles, and Developing Quality Citizens – framing each element as a fight (fights we intend to win).”
The first materials from the campaign include three 30-second, and one 60-second television ad. Follow-on releases will include public service announcements for TV, radio and billboard platforms as well as three new television advertisements.
