Dakota Meyer, retired sergeant and Medal of Honor recipient, visited the Combat Center, March 22, as part of his Hiring Our Heroes Tour.
Meyer received the Medal of Honor for his actions on Sept. 8, 2009, during the Battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan. Meyer works with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s “Hiring Our Heroes” initiative and Toyota to advocate for employment opportunities for veterans.
The Combat Center was one of Meyer’s many stops on the tour. While aboard the installation, he spoke to Marines in Sergeants Course about transitioning out of the military and into civilian jobs.
As part of the initiative, Meyer attends hiring fairs, leads workshops and talks to employers to help veterans and transitioning service members market their military experience to civilian employers. The Combat Center was one of several military installations Meyer is slated to visit.
