US Soldier, proud Texan represents 1st Cavalry Division at exercise Eagle Resolve

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait – Pfc. Dalton Moore, an M1 armor crewman with the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood, Texas, is spend-ing part of his first deployment training with Gulf Cooperation Council forces as part of exercise Eagle Resolve 2017.

Moore, a Midland, Texas, native, is a self-described proud, classic Texan: polite, humble and sporting a Browning hunting logo tattoo to show his passion for the outdoors. Prior to joining the Army, he worked in the Texas oil fields. His current deployment in support of Operation Spartan Shield is not only his first deployment, but also his first time in another country.

“Texas is a hell of a country,” said Moore. “I’m very proud of where I’m from. Eve-rything you need is right there … Kuwait reminds me a lot of West Texas.”

Moore works as a primary tank gunner - a duty position normally filled by a Soldier two to three ranks higher. He is responsible for training privates who have been in the Army for less than a year.

“They’re fresh,” said Moore. “They need to learn so they can one day follow me. My tank commander pushes knowledge into my head on a daily basis … and I couldn’t be where I am without my leadership.”

When he returns to Fort Hood, Moore is looking forward to a day with his wife and two kids.

“My ideal day is to come home, kick my boots off, and talk and relax (with my wife),” said Moore.
Until then, he sends love to his wife, son, daughter, mom and his father, a sergeant first class out of Fort Bliss, Texas.

About 1,000 U.S. military personnel are representing U.S. Central Command in sup-port of this year’s exercise. Other participants include the Gulf Cooperation Council na-tions of Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Since 1999, Eagle Resolve has become the leading engagement between U.S. and GCC nations to collectively address the regional challenges associated with asymmetric warfare in a low-risk setting.
